Why Do We Need Fire Rated Doors?

Fire rated internal doors save lives. The main function of fire rated doors is to halt the spread of an existing fire or smoke for a predetermined length of time. We offer fire rated doors which are available for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes depending on the degree of protection you’re looking for. When you invest in fire rated doors, you’ll be able to:

  • Protect fire escapes to allow a safe evacuation of your premises
  • Satisfy insurers by securing your building and its contents
  • Assist firefighters in locating and extinguishing the outbreak of fire asap

How are Fire Rated Internal Doors Made?

Fire rated doors are made from composite materials which are generally heavier than a typical wooden door. Fire rated glass doors are a fantastic way to combine maximum protection with interior aesthetics. Our range of fire rated glass doors provide you with a solution that allows plenty of light to flood in through protected zones in your building.

Where to Place Fire Rated Doors

Commercial or non-domestic buildings require an escape route which is clearly defined so as to allow all personnel to safely exit away from danger. Fire rated internal doors are a means of providing safe passage to corridors or stairwells as well as sectioning off parts of a building to prevent the fire from spreading from one zone to another. They’re particularly useful in high-risk areas including kitchens, boiler rooms and any other space which may contain combustible materials.

In domestic buildings of three storeys or more, it’s required that you have fire rated internal doors in every room which is located off the main stairwell.

Fire Rated Doors Compliant With LPCB

Premier Security & Fire Consultants Ltd stock a wide range of fire rated doors which are compliant with standards set by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB). These standards are used by insurers to certify that fire security doors are safe and operate effectively. There are huge benefits for those who select LPCB rated fire rated doors. Not only do our products reduce fire safety risks and the threat of damage, choosing them demonstrates that you’re exercising due diligence which is always encouraged by insurers. You can also avoid wasting money and time sourcing substandard fire security equipment that isn’t as effective in safeguarding your property, assets and personnel.
