Great to see Premier-sponsored Rob Guiver back on his Hyside-Romford machine at the weekend competing in the opening round of the Ducati Tri-Options Cup at Donington Park racetrack.
It was Rob’s first competitive outing since his 2017 season was wrecked following a horrific incident at Brands Hatch left him with two broken hands and a fractured ankle.
There were fears that Rob’s racing career was over but the man from Essex is full of grit and determination and there was huge admiration for him as he piloted his Hyside Ducati to the line for Race One on Sunday.
An impressive fifth place could have been even better but for a few technical hitches that the team have vowed to put right. Bank Holiday Monday’s Race 2 was run in treacherous conditions thanks to the rain and Rob was one of a number of racers to slide out before remounting to finish 19th.
Rob and the team were naturally disappointed with that but the season is young and their hopes remain high.
