Premier Security & Fire is now offering customers a 120-minute, fire-resistant, steel louvre security door.
Premier’s two-hour, fire-resistant louvre doors are designed for circumstances where ventilation is needed but where the door must also offer protection if a fire breaks out.
A standard louvre panel allows ventilation to pass through but offers no defence against flames and smoke. In contrast, Premier’s high-performance, fire-resistant louvre system will allow ventilation but in the event of a fire will expand in volume therefore preventing fire and smoke from spreading.
At a temperature of 140°-150° Celsius, an intumescent core within the louvre swells to 80 times the original thickness. The louvres fuse together to form a non-combustible barrier. In effect the grilles act as a static fire barrier.
