Premier-sponsored racer Rob Guiver Racing #13 is within touching distance of the Ducati Tri-Options Cup Championship after another stunning weekend of track action at Cadwell Park.
Rob piloted his Ducati Romford / Hyside Racing machine to third place in Saturday’s high-octane race and went two better on Sunday winning a thrilling encounter with final-lap burst to take the spoils from Lewis Rollo.
The Essex man now leads the championship by 55 points with just Silverstone and Assen left to race. He is the man in form and Rob could even wrap up the title at Silverstone (Sep7-9).
He was in buoyant mood on Sunday knowing the title was almost his. Rob said:” I’m really pleased right now knowing that we have almost cemented the championship,
Hopefully, we can wrap it up at Silverstone. You never know, We’ve been going for this for a long time, so let’s do it.”
Rob lined up for Race 2 in pole, ahead of Sean Neary (Zoek Racing Team) and Rollo (Highsparks Racing) with Race 1 winner Levi Day (Boast Plumbing) at the front of Row 2.
As the lights went out it was Rollo, searching for his first win, who got the holeshot to lead Guiver and Neary, with Day holding 4th.
On Lap 3 Guiver passed Rollo for the lead but sat the Highsparks rider up allowing Neary to follow him through into 2nd. Not to be outdone, Rollo set a series of new lap records, with a time of 1:31.548s on Lap 7, retaking 2nd in the process.
On Lap 10 Rollo passed Guiver and looked to make a gap. But in a thrilling final lap Guiver made a move on the inside into Park and despite pressure from Rollo managed to hold his position to take the chequered flag, his 6th win of the season. Rollo finished 0.199s behind in 2nd, with Day wrapping up a successful weekend after beating Neary to the final podium position.
