LPS 1175 Tested Locks

Premier Security Ballistic & Blast Ltd continues to raise the bar in high-security door hardware testing, partnering with BRE (Building Research Establishment) and LPCB to push the boundaries of locking system performance. Our latest testing programme focuses on ASSA ABLOY locks, specifically the EL420, EL420, EL460 and EL560, evaluated to LPS1175 standards SR2 (B3) and SR3 (C5). This rigorous scrutiny demonstrates our commitment to delivering locks that combine reliability, resilience and compliance for critical perimeter and interior door applications.

LPS 1175 Tested Locks

Why this testing matters

  • LPS1175 SR2 (B3) and SR3 (C5) are widely recognised benchmarks for resistance against physical attack and forced entry attempts. Achieving these ratings signifies a notable level of security suitable for a broad spectrum of environments.
  • LPCB testing through BRE ensures the locking systems meet world-class security and performance criteria, giving end users, specifiers, and installers confidence in a lock’s real-world resilience.
  • By concentrating on ASSA ABLOY’s EL series, Premier Security Ballistic & Blast Ltd aligns with leading-edge locking technology that supports robust security requirements without compromising accessibility.

Key products in the testing program

  • EL 420: The EL420 Electric Motor Lock is designed for wooden or metal doors with a narrow stile. Part of the ASSA ABLOY CERTA range, it delivers burglary resistance up to 60,000 N and includes intelligent security features such as ACC indication, anti-tampering counter-measures, EMC, and two-way ACC. Ideal for high-traffic entrance doors, corridor doors, and fire-rated doors, the EL420 guarantees reliable emergency exits and secure controlled access.
  • EL 460: The EL460 DIN Euro Profile lock features a hardened deadbolt and anti-friction bolt, fail-locked and fail-unlocked options, and a split spindle for versatile control. It supports interior and exterior door scenarios, can be controlled by an access control system or remote control (timer, keypad, or push button), and remains operable from the inside regardless of external control. It’s suited for medium-traffic doors in business premises, public buildings, healthcare facilities, and educational establishments.
  • EL 560: The EL560 is a high-security, handle-controlled, solenoid-operated electric lock designed for solid, medium-traffic doors. It provides automatic deadlocking on door closure and configurable fail-locked/fail-unlocked modes. It is well-suited for emergency exits in offices, hospitals, schools, and similar environments that demand strong security with reliable egress.
  • EL 420 (reiterated): As noted above, the EL420 is a core entry and exit solution for high-traffic doors and critical access points, including fire-rated doors and doors with automation.

How the testing aligns with real-world needs

  • Fire and emergency access: The EL420’s design supports safe egress during emergencies, while the EL460 and EL560 offer fail-safe and fail-secure configurations to meet building code requirements and safety protocols.
  • High-traffic environments: The EL420 and EL560 are optimised for busy doors in offices, hospitals, schools, shopping centres, and other public buildings where separation of entry and egress points is essential.
  • Robust physical security: LPS1175 SR2 (B3) and SR3 (C5) ratings reflect resistance to a range of attack vectors, giving specifiers confidence in long-term performance.
