Anti Graffiti Window Film

Anti Graffiti Window Film: Protect the Glass, Replace the Film

Anti graffiti window film is a clear, sacrificial layer fitted to existing glazing. Paint, permanent marker, key scratches and acid etching damage the film rather than the pane, and when it is marked the film peels away to leave the glass underneath unharmed.

Premier Security Ballistic & Blast Ltd supplies Graffitigard anti graffiti film for glass, helping transport operators, retailers, local authorities and building owners avoid the cost and downtime of replacing damaged panes.

What Is Anti Graffiti Window Film?

Anti graffiti window film, also known as graffiti protection film, is an optically clear polyester film applied to glass and other smooth, non-porous surfaces. It provides anti graffiti glass protection by putting a replaceable layer between the vandal and the surface, so the damage stays on the film.

Repairing or replacing a damaged pane is slow and expensive, and it can take a vehicle or a shopfront out of use. Replacing the film costs far less than replacing the glass, and the work is quick to carry out on site with minimal disruption.

How Sacrificial Anti Graffiti Film Works

  1. The film is fitted

The film is cut to size and fitted to the existing glass, with no need to take the glazing out.

  2. It takes the damage

Paint, marker pen, scratches and acid land on the film. As a sacrificial layer, it takes the attack and the glass behind it is protected.

  3. It peels away

The damaged film is removed and replaced. On multi-layer film, a trained technician peels off the damaged top layer to reveal a fresh one beneath.

What Anti Graffiti Film for Glass Protects Against

  • Graffiti and permanent ink

Spray paint, marker pens and permanent ink are left on the film and not on the glass.

  • Scratching

It works as a glass scratch protection film against keys and other scratch damage. Each Graffitigard 4PLUS layer also has a scratch-resistant coating to protect it during routine cleaning.

  • Acid etching

It works as an anti etching film for glass, because the acid attacks the film and the mark is removed along with it.

  • UV damage

Single-layer Graffitigard reduces UV by 99%, which helps to protect interiors from fading.

Where Anti Graffiti Window Film Is Used

Anti graffiti window film suits glazing within reach of the public, particularly where a damaged pane is costly or slow to replace.

  • Public transport and bus shelters
  • Retail storefronts
  • Offices and public buildings
  • Hotels and restaurants
  • Schools and universities
  • Hospitals
  • Government buildings
  • Historic landmarks
  • Lifts and escalators
  • Toilets and mirrors

Shopfront Anti Graffiti Film

A tagged or scratched window affects how a store looks from the street until it has been dealt with. Shopfront anti graffiti film means the damage can be removed with the film, with no need to order a new pane, and because the film is clear the display behind it stays in full view.

For shop window graffiti protection on street-facing glass, the film must suit exterior use, so we will confirm the right specification for your frontage. Where the concern goes beyond vandalism, see our high-value retail security solutions.

Why Specify Anti Graffiti Film

Clear anti graffiti film

Graffitigard is optically clear, so it keeps the look of the original glazing with none of the visual impact of bars or grilles.

Removable anti graffiti film

The film peels away cleanly and leaves the surface underneath unharmed. The 4PLUS adhesive system is designed so that no adhesive transfers to the glass.

Lower replacement costs

Replacing the film costs far less than replacing the glass, and peeling a damaged 4PLUS layer reduces both downtime and labour.

Graffitigard Film Options

Graffitigard is made by Solar Gard, part of Saint-Gobain. The right choice depends on where the glass is, and how often you expect to replace the film.

Anti Graffiti Window Film Installation

The fit matters as much as the film, so it is worth choosing anti graffiti film installers who check the glazing first. When you speak to us about anti graffiti window film installation, we will look at:

  • Exposure: whether the glass is interior or exterior, which decides the film you can use
  • Surface: the film is made for smooth, non-porous surfaces, so heavily textured glass needs checking first
  • Damage risk: how often you expect to replace it, which helps you choose between single-layer and multi-layer film
  • Access and timing: how to work around trading hours or service schedules with minimal disruption

Where a project has many identical panes, such as vehicle windows or shelter panels, film can be supplied as tailor-made pieces, cut to the surface you want to protect.

What Anti Graffiti Film Does Not Do

Anti graffiti window film protects the surface of the glass. It does not make a window resistant to forced entry, firearms or blast, and it carries no LPS 1175, ballistic or blast rating. Very deep gouges from hard cutting tools can also still reach the glass.

Anti Graffiti Window Film FAQs

What is anti graffiti window film?

Anti graffiti window film is a clear, sacrificial film fitted to glass and other smooth, non-porous surfaces. Paint, permanent marker, scratches and acid etching damage the film instead of the surface. The film can then be removed and replaced for far less than the cost of a new pane.

How does sacrificial anti graffiti film work?

The film sits between the vandal and the glass and takes the damage. Single-layer film is removed and replaced when it is marked. Multi-layer film such as Graffitigard 4PLUS has four layers, so a trained technician can peel away the damaged layer to reveal a fresh one beneath.

Can you see clear anti graffiti film on the glass?

It is designed to go unnoticed. Graffitigard is optically clear, and the manufacturer’s data sheet for 4PLUS lists 92% visible light transmission and 3.5% haze. It keeps the look of the original glazing, with none of the visual impact of bars or grilles.

Does it work as an anti etching film for glass?

Yes. Graffitigard is designed to protect glass from acid etching. The acid attacks the film rather than the pane, and the mark is removed along with the film.

Is it also a glass scratch protection film?

Yes. It protects glass from key scratches and similar damage, and each layer of Graffitigard 4PLUS has a scratch-resistant coating to protect it during routine cleaning. Very deep gouges from hard cutting tools can still reach the glass.

Is removable anti graffiti film easy to take off?

It is designed to peel away cleanly and leave the surface underneath unharmed, and the Graffitigard 4PLUS adhesive system is designed so that no adhesive transfers to the glass. Layers should be removed by a trained technician.

Can anti graffiti film be used on the outside of a window?

Single-layer Graffitigard covers both interior and exterior glass. The manufacturer’s information for the multi-layer Graffitigard 4PLUS refers to interior glass, so we will confirm the right film for your glazing, including street-facing shopfronts.

What surfaces can anti graffiti film protect?

Glass windows and mirrors, plus other non-porous surfaces such as stainless steel and marble. It is not intended for porous surfaces, and heavily textured glass should be checked first.

How do you clean anti graffiti film?

Use a soft cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid razor blades and abrasive pads, because they can cut or scratch the film.

Does anti graffiti film stop break-ins?

No. It protects the surface of the glass and carries no forced entry, ballistic or blast rating. For attack resistance, see our LPS 1175 security windows and Hammerglass security glazing.

Do you offer anti graffiti window film installation?

Yes. Speak to our specialists about supply and installation, and we will look at your glazing, its exposure, access and timing. The film is quick to install on site with minimal disruption.

How much does anti graffiti window film cost?

It depends on the glazing area, the film, and access to the site, so we price each project individually. Replacing the film costs far less than replacing the glass, which is where the saving comes from over time.
